Middle School Rotary Writing Contest Winners!

The Dunn-Erwin Rotary Club recently sponsored an essay contest using the questions asked by the Four-Way Test.  This test is designed to help students be better citizens as they are encouraged to think before speaking and acting.  The questions addressed in the essay focused on being truthful, being fair, being helpful, and promoting goodwill and friendships.  The contest was open to all area 7th and 8th graders and was anonymously judged by a panel of club members.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from CFCA were Sedrick Pickett, Emma Breslin, and Josh McMillan, respectively.  They were invited to attend a Rotary luncheon where Sedrick was asked to read his winning essay.  In addition to the recognition and lunch, each winner was awarded a monetary prize:  Sedrick won $50, Emma won $35, and Josh won $25.

Angela Godwin, Middle School Principal and English teacher, accompanied the winners to the luncheon on Wednesday, December 4.

CFCA Brain Game Team Members:  Zach B., Lindsey M. and Danile D with host Mark Roberts

On Saturday, November 2, 2013, CFCA’s Brain Game team competed in WRAL-TV’s BRAIN GAME show which airs every Saturday morning and showcases area high school academic teams.  Cape Fear’s team went head-to-head with Roanoke Rapids High School and Panther Creek High School.  The competition consisted of questions from a variety of subject areas including Headliners, Pop Culture, Word Power, Name Game, Math, Science, Art & Literature, and Geography.

Our Brain Game team on-air competitors for the show were Lindsey Moureau, Zach Berly, and Daniel DeVane.  Charlie Crumpler was the alternate, and other team members were Stephanie Willis and Garrett Hobbs.  Mrs. Cherry DeVane and Mrs. Angela Godwin coached the team, which made a creditable showing and never wavered in their confidence.  Each of the three on-air team members correctly answered a multitude of questions, receiving very few penalties for incorrect answers.  The show will  air on December 28, 2013, at 11:30 on WRAL.

It Takes a Village...

A new year is upon us. We have had a wonderful time getting the school ready (cleaning, repairs, and improvements), the kids ready (first day of school and first day of chapel) and preparing hearts and minds for the teachings of Jesus Christ.

This is a task that can't be done by just a family or just an Academy, but rather by a village. Won't you join our village and support our mission to prepare leaders for tomorrow through academic excellence in a Christian environment.

Ecclesiastes 7:12 (ESV)

For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

Lord, help us to guide our children and help them procure the wisdom needed to help others and to serve You. Amen.

CFCA Beautification Day

Cape Fear Christian Academy had a wonderful turn out of over 50 volunteers including faculty, staff, board members, students, and families.  We were able to establish 4 new flower beds, rehab the flower beds at the signs and in front of all of the buildings, power wash, clean awnings, paint the porch of the Aldredge building, paint two classrooms, and more; all because a few folks had some serious EAGLE PRIDE!

Luke 6:38  "Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Harnett Regional Theater Presents 3 CFCA Students...

Three Elementary students recently participated in the Harnett Regional Theater Summer Workshop:  Ella John Dupree, Sam Medlin, and Ashton Britt.
The workshop concluded with two performances of Disney's Aristicats on July 26th and 27th.

Many CFCA students are involved in the performing arts in local theaters and in their churches.  We are proud of our young people for working to further develop the talents God has blessed them with and sharing with others!

Matthew 18:5 Welcome

And anyone that welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me.

Let this be our invitation to open our hearts and homes to foreign exchange students that will be feeding from the Word of Life and Fountain of Knowledge at Cape Fear Christian Academy for the 2013-2014 Academic Year.  We are excited to announce that Cape Fear Christian Academy has the availability to host several more high school students (these student cover their own tuition and lunch accounts); however, we do not have the host families needed to minister and disciple to these students outside of the Academy.

Please contact Mrs. Sarah Bowman, Mrs. Tammy Moran, or Mrs. Karen Parker if you are interested in serving as a host family.
